She owns an award winning fashion brand by name Laurene Haute Couture. Gloria Bartels a top businesswoman here in Ghana and a philanthropist. Laurene Ama Bartels, Ama is well known in high society circles. It will be good for their brand and business. I’m also by this post suggesting some three enterprising, rich, stylish and classy women who should give this show a shot. I believe these women should give it a shot. I still stand by the selection of cast I made.
In 2016, When I first wrote about it I suggested some ladies to be considered as cast members. She hinted most of the people they contacted here in Ghana were quite apprehensive of the whole idea since it’s something nouveau to us. one of the producers in an interview recently disclosed most people are asking why didn’t she cast any Ghanaian on the show. There’s a show on Netflix called Young, African and Famous which is executively produced by two Ghanaians. Even Menzgold and Nam 1 kraaa most people have moved on 🤣🤣🤣 Yes, the bashing and snide comments will come in. Most cast members of the Housewives franchise have had their careers and business gone from 0-100. Is imperative we constantly show what’s bright of our country. Especially now that most people in the diaspora have a visit to Ghana on their bucket list. Also, such platforms helps to erase certain prejudices and stereotypes. Well, yes all these socio-economic issues exist but as humans we strive to be aspirational and improve on our lives. I’m sure critics are saying why Lagos or Nigeria for that matter? A country that cannot boast of one hour consistent power and also facing economic crises. Omo like they say in Lagos “Eko for show” meaning Lagos for show. Showmax in April is also bringing us Real Housewives of Lagos.
